James ran a mule train supply between San Antonio and San Angelo. He was away from home for long periods of time. James and his brother John looked like twins.

He died of kidney trouble. There is no marker only a rock on grave. --This info given by Tomas E. Taylor, but there must be some way of identifying his grave as his information appears in the Hilburn Cemetery list of graves.

He married ETTIE MAE HOLLIDAY¹ 09 Oct 1900 in Menard, Menard Co., Texas, daughter of FRANCIS HOLLIDAY and EFFIE PAGE. She was born 23 Apr 1880 in Tom Green Co., Texas, and died 10 Jan 1944 in Boyd, Wise Co., Texas.

Notes for MILTON F. TAYLOR:

Milton's father had a mule train supply between San Antonio and San Angelo and was away from home a lot. He left Milton with his brother John on his ranch, but John was mean to Milton and he ran away repeatedly. He ended up living in the bunkhouse with the cowboys, and was always very proud of the fact that he was raised and educated by cowboys.

He was a good man, fair but strict with his children, and always loved watching them have fun. He and Ettie both had dark red hair. All of their children, with the exception of Artie and Dick, had some shade of red hair. In his last years he lost his eyesight and the people of Boyd, Tx. helped him with his affairs as needed, as he lived alone. His youngest daughter, Odessa and granddaughter Darlene kept his small home clean and were a great comfort to him. He died of a heart attack.

Milton and Ettie both had dark red hair. All of their children, with the exception of Artie and Dick, had some shade of red hair.

Taylor, Milton F., of Boyd. Died Monday at his home. Retired farmer. Mason. Services 2:00 p. m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church, Boyd. Burial Boyd Cemetery. Survivors: Four daughters, Mrs. N. L. Jones of Floydada, Mrs. P. D. Lisby of Fort Worth, Mrs. Jack Medley of Glenndale, Cal., Mrs. Ed Hardee of Decatur; four sons W. F. and Thomas Taylor of Sherman, Milton F. Taylor Jr. of Hamilton Air Force Base, Cal. and J. W. Taylor of Jacksboro.

Ettie Mae was a small, chubby woman, just over 4 ft. tall and wore size four and a half size shoe. She had beautiful dark red hair that almost reached the floor and was wore in a bun. Ettie had five major strokes before she died. After the fourth stroke the doctor ordered her hair to be cut. It fell into long natural waves across her head. No one knew it was curly! She was red-headed.

Jim Taylor never married. He was in love with Grace Wilson and at one point even got a marriage

license in Denton, Texas. He came home very angry one night and tore up the license and burned it

Tom Taylor had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to joke and kid around, but he had a very high temper and was easily angered. He held grudges for long periods of time. The keen mind he had for dates and places was truly remarkable. He also knew Texas history well. Tom served in the U.S. Cavalry and the U.S. Air Force during WW 2 and Korean War. He met his future wife in San Antonio. She working in the bus station coffee shop and he thought she was the " cutest thing he had ever seen" and decided to marry her! After retiring from the military with 30 years service, he retired to Sherman, Texas and worked for the State Highway Dept. as a dispatcher. After his health began to fail, they moved to Woodville, Texas to be near his wife's folks. They had no children.

After retirement from the Air Force he was employed as head maintenance man at Austin College in Sherman, Texas. Later he became a minister for the Church of Christ, serving several churches as pastor, the latest being in Colbert, Oklahoma.

Artie was born on the Pat Clayburn farm near Gouldbusk, Coleman Co., Texas on the Coleman River.

It's said that Frank and Tom loved their little sister Artie so much that when she started to school they would pull the wet weeds along the path so the hem of her dress wouldn't get wet.

After they were married, Walter and Artie decided to drive to California for their honeymoon. They got as far as El Paso and decided that was enough driving, turned around and came home.

Artie was a good wife and mother to her family. She had a talent for sewing and made all her and her daughter's clothes. She also sewed for a few customers. She always had a big garden and shared freely with family and friends. As her mother Ettie was unable because of many strokes, Artie wrote letters each week and prayed daily for the safety of her 5 brothers in the service during WW 2. Tom was in England, Dick in India and J. W. in the Aleutian Island. Frank and Jim did not go overseas but served as instructors here. Artie should have been a nurse. People called her when they needed help in sickness, childbirth, a death or just to talk about a problem. She loved to laugh, tease, and have fun, just like all the Taylors. Artie was only 41 years old when she died. She was milking a cow when the blood clot hit her heart and she fell over dead.

JONES LAST RITES ARE CONDUCTED IN CHURCH at ARGYLE Funeral services for Mrs. Walter Jones who was found dead near her home in Argyle Wednesday, were held Thursday afternoon at the Argyle Baptist Church. The Rev. R. E. Cook of Denton officiated with the Rev. T. W. Cole assisting.

Arrangements were made by Jack Schmitz and Sons Funeral Home. Burial was at Swisher Cemetery. Pallbearers included P. D. Lisby, Ray Reed, Pete Livingston, Fred Jones, G. W. Jones and Norman Jones. Survivors are her husband of Argyle; one daughter Mrs. Bob Anderson, Ft. Worth; one son Bill Jones,

Notes for WALTER LEE JONES:

Died as a result of a car wreck. The wreck was on Hwy 377, just south of Denton, Texas. A car coming from the opposite direction in the other lane had a blowout and swerved into Walter's lane. He tried to swerve into the left lane to avoid an accident, but the bumpers on the two cars caught, sending Walter's car careening into a ditch. The other car, carrying three students careened into another car then landed also in a ditch. Walter was taken to Flow Memorial Hospital in Denton, but never regained consciousness. He died the next day. The young boy who was driving the other car was very upset. He did everything he could to help and ended up leaving school and joining the army to get away from the area.

3-Car Crash Badly Injures Argyle Man

Walter Lee Jones, 46, of Argyle was critically injured and three North Texas College Students shaken up in a three-car smashup about 5 P.M. Saturday on the Ft. Worth Highway near Hickory Creek.

Jones was reported to have suffered numerous head cuts, several broken ribs and other internal injuries. The impact threw the Argyle man from the car.

The three students were reported to be Loy E. O'Grady, freshman from Port Arthur, whose local address is 1120 1/2 Gregg: Charles Knight, senior from Port Arthur, 930 Chestnut and Guy A. Baldwin, Jr., freshman from Greenville, 316 Bernard.

O'Grady received emergency treatment at Denton Hospital and Clinic and was dismissed.

Jones, who is employed in Denton, was taken to Flow Memorial Hospital by a Schmitz Funeral Home ambulance.

Third car involved in the wreck was driven by Dominic DiGiacomo of Ohio. Neither the driver nor the five passengers in the latter car were hurt.

The 1946 model two door sedan in which the students were riding, was traveling toward Denton when it crashed with the south-bound 1941 model coupe driven by Jones, who was on his way from Denton to his home an Argyle.

As the students' car careened off Jones' vehicle, it struck the front end of the 1949 four-door being driven by DeGiacomo, who was also traveling south. DiGiacomo said he witnessed the accident just ahead and had brought his car to a complete stop just before being hit.

The two cars in the initial crash were reported to be heavily damaged. Both vehicles careened off the highway following the mishap.

The accident was investigated by State Highway Patrolman H. P. Berkley. Sheriff's Deputies Olen Jones and Harrold Tanner aided in keeping traffic flowing following the accident.

Jones is First Fatality of '51

Walter Lee Jones, 45, of Argyle, became Denton County's first highway fatality of 1951, when he died at 11:45 A.M. Sunday in Flow Memorial Hospital of injuries received about 5 P.M. Saturday afternoon in an auto collision on Hwy 377, five miles south of Denton near the Hickory Creek Bridge.

Jones, a welder for the J.L. Myers and Sons Company of Denton, was returning to his home from work when his car and a vehicle traveling north occupied by three North Texas College students collided.

The students were also slightly injured in the collision and were treated at the Denton Hospital and Clinic. One was given emergency treatment and the other two kept overnight. They were Loy E. O'Grady and Charles Knight of Port Arthur and Guy A. Baldwin, Jr. of Greenville.

Funeral services for Jones will be held at 2 P.M. today in the Argyle Baptist Church. Rev. Henry Kinkeade, pastor of the Grace Temple Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be in the Swisher Cemetery at Lake Dallas.

Jones had been an Argyle resident for 15 years. He was born in Lake Dallas March 22, 1905 and married Miss Artie Mae Taylor, who preceded him in death in August of 1949.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Bob R. Anderson, Ft. Worth: one son, Billy Lee Jones, Argyle; his mother Mrs. W. E. Jones, Route 2, Denton; three sisters, Mrs. Pete Livingston, Ft. Worth, Mrs. Ada Burton, Lubbock, Mrs. Rena Smyrl, South Bend, Ind.; one granddaughter, Sue Ann Anderson, Ft. Worth.

Pallbearers will be George Inman, Edward Gumas, Sherman Smith of Lubbock, Travis Smith, Austin Gruw and Essie Whorton of Dallas. ( These pallbearers are unknown to the family. It is believed to

be a misprint be the newspaper.)

Before the automobile accident, Walter had a foot injury. He had been welding some steel panels together when one panel fell on his foot, across the toes. Some of the toes had to be amputated. The wounds did not heal correctly and were becoming gangrenous. He was about to lose his leg when the wreck happened.

Dick got a taste of being poor during the depression and vowed never to be poor again. He was always the best looking boy in the family and was accused of being a little snobbish. Before joining the service he sang with a local band in Fort Worth. During WW 2 he was stationed for several years in India.

After the war he served in the Philippines. He was stationed twice in California. As a result of being stationed there, he had a California accent. He loved to play golf.

His birth certificate says Coleman, Tx. but he was born on Mud Creek, near Bee Branch community.

When his only child was born he wanted to name her Mary Helen. His wife said no because she knew that was the name of two old girlfriends of his. Later he asked her how she liked Betty Jo for a name. She named the baby Betty Jo not knowing these were the names of two other old girlfriends.

J. W. was the youngest of the eleven children of Milton and Ettie. Ettie began having strokes while he was still small and he was raised mostly by his brothers and sisters. He was medium height, with

sandy red hair, and always very skinny. He joined the U. S. Navy after high school graduation and served on a ship that guarded the Aleutian Islands off the coast of Alaska during WW 2. After he was

discharged from the Navy he came home and married Louise, a woman who had been married before. They had one child Sherry and both of them doted on her. J. W. worked for Lone Star Gas Co., driving from one gas well to another to check their operation. One day he either lit a cigarette or threw one down and a gas well exploded. He was burned on his head, face, hands, and most of his body. He lived seven days and died not from the burns but from smoke in his lungs.

SPRINGTOWN Funeral arrangements for Jessie W. Taylor, 42, of Jacksboro, were incomplete this

morning at White Funeral Home here. Taylor, a former resident of Springtown, died yesterday in a

Wichita Falls hospital of burns received in a gas main fire. He was an employee of Lone Star Gas Co., and was draining a line on a company lease when the fire broke out. Survivors are his wife, a 14 year
