My name is Claudia Clark, a William Minter descendent. I corresponded with you briefly in March, 2002.
In visiting with some Minter relatives in Houston, we learned some new information concerning William and Jane Minter. From a family album in the possession of Bobbie Mueller, a Minter descendent, by marriage, of Hugh Jackson and Ida A. Minter (daughter of James Gustavus Minter, William and Jane's son), we were able to copy Bible records that Ida's daughter, Ada Jone Jackson Mueller, had obtained from the original Bible, in the possession, at that time, of Frank Aldridge, a descendent of Elizabeth Minter Aldridge, wife of Frances Marion Aldridge and daughter of William and Jane. Those records (using spelling as it is in the album) are as follows:
Married childrem - William, Martha Ann, Permelia, McKennes, James, John, Ebinezer (I assume these are the children of Mackerness Goode Minter. (Note for Wilburn descendents, Permelia Minter married Richard Wilbourn)
Name: William Minter Married: June 15, 1819, Edgefield, Name: Jane Harris Born: April 26, 1795, SC by Edmund Pilcher Born: March 2, 1799 Edgefield, Edgefield, SC Edgefield, SC Died: Liberty, TX, 1871 Died: Liberty, TX, 1869

Robert November 20, 1824 Sept., 1825 (1845) Edgefield, SC Tallahatchie, Miss.
(I think the death date, 1825, is an error. I believe it should be 1845, because we have a copy of a news article dated August 30, 1845, where a Robert Minter was killed when returning home from preaching. He was buried in Troy.)

I thought you'd be interested in this information. It's just more proof of the relationships of the Minters in Yalobusha. We also found that Thomas Minter, James G. Minter and Francis M. Aldridge, for sure, graduated from Georgetown University in Kentucky. Elizabeth Minter attended school in Columbia, TN. Bobbie Mueller has a picture of James G. Minter's graduating class in the scrapbook. We also have seen the Aldridge Letters, Minter pictures, etc., on file in Jackson, MS, at the archives. We still need to transpose most of the letters. We could tell from what we read that Elizabeth Minter Aldridge kept in touch with her family in Texas and that they visited back and forth. I truly feel that this information from the Bible record is accurate, since much of this detail matches our researched information. So, it looks like Jane Minter was a Harris instead of a Wilbourn as we originally thought. A Minter descendent of John Morgan Minter, William and Jane's son, thought that Jane was a Wilbourn, but no one seemed to have proof. We have not been able to find the original Bible records, but they are supposed to be in possession of an Aldridge relative in Greenwood, MS. We have talked to her, but she can't remember. Another relative says that she has the Bible, but doesn't know where it is. We plan to keep trying to obtain them, so they can be recorded and put on file in the archives.
We were in Mississippi last year, but our time was too short to complete our research. I want to copy all the Minter deeds and study them. I must say that I have spent a lot of time on the Internet trying to find information on Jane Harris, but I've not been able to make a definite connection. I guess that it will have to wait until we have a chance to go to SC.
Hope this is helpful.
Most sincerely,
Claudia Clark

Hi John,
I need to clarify that in the two places where the Bible records that I sent you say Tyler, TX, that it probably means Tyler County, TX, which would be the Woodville, TX area where the Minter land was.
Sorry I failed to mention this.
Regards,
Claudia Clark
