Hello John, You probably have the information I am about to impart since your post was in 2000. I hope this provides some clues to your ancestors. Fortunately, I do have some information on your g-g-grandmother Philura Boyce although she is not my direct line.
Samuel Boyes, born about 1795, married 13 January 1831, Sterling (Morristown), VT, Lucy Whitney, born about 1806, died 11 April 1871, VT, age 65. Samuel died 5 August 1841, VT, age 46. They had two children and may have had more: Francis F., born 1832, died 31 May 1838, VT, age 6-8; and Horatio O., born unknown and died 5 June 1838, VT. I do not have Philura listed. (My ancestor, I believe is Joseph, born 5 June 1769, and Sally/Sarah Head, born 13 January 1779, Pembroke, NH. I have not been able to gain specific proof, but believe this is the line. Joseph would be the brother of Samuel. I descend through Joseph's son, Hugh Boyce and Emily (Mary Emily)Davis, Hugh born 1811 and Emily born 1824.)
I have Samuel's parents as Samuel Boyes/Boyce, born about 1753, married Eunice, last name unknown, born about 1763. Eunice died 26 April 1840, Johnson, VT, age 77 and Samuel died 11 October 1838, age 85. Both are buried in the Village Cemetery in Johnson, VT. (Please note, the vital records of Londonderry, NH lists a Samuel, born 14 September 1764, Londonderry, NH to Samuel Boyes and Janet. However, according to the Samuel buried in Johnson and his age at death, he would have been born about 1753. Todate, I have not been able to clarify this issue).
Samuel's parents would be James born about 1693 and died 1747. He married Margaret, (possibly Carey) about 1720, of Londonderry, NH. I can not seem to make an absolute connection to this line. Maybe you will have better luck. Please share any information you find.
In reference to the Manning line, Joseph D. and Lucius M. Boyce married Bridget Ellen and Mary Manning, respectively. They were brothers, sons of William and Judith (Jones) Boyce. William was a brother to Samuel and Joseph. I hope the information will open some doors for you. Have fun!
I am responding to an old post of 2000 and you may have already obtained your information. In case you did not, I will provide some information for you on Mary/Marietta E. Boyce.
Mary, born 19 March 1863, married 16 September 1883, Johnson, VT, Lewis W. Fletcher, born 1860, died 1921. Mary died 1934, Johnson, VT. Both are buried in the French Cemetery, Johnson, VT.
Mary was the daughter of Joseph D. Boyes and Ellen Bridget Manning, married 9 September 1854. Joseph D. was born 25 August 1827, Hyde Park, VT, and died 28 April 1902, Hyde Park, VT, age 73 yrs, 8 mns, 5 dys. Ellen Briget was born 1 January 1838, Ireland, daughter of Michael and Mary Manning, died 14 November 1918, Hyde Park, VT. Both Joseph and Ellen are buried in the Village Cemetery, Hyde Park, VT.
Joseph D. was the son of William and Judith (Jones) Boyce, William being the brother of my ancestor, Hugh Boyce. I have no further information on William and Judith. Their parents would be Joseph Boyce and Sally Head. I believe Joseph's parents to be Samuel Boyce and Janet, last name unknown, of Londonderry, NH, but can not prove it. Sally's parents are most likely Isaac Head and Sally of Pembroke, NH, again, I can not find proof.
I hope the information I provided will be helpful to you. Good hunting in your search. I will appreciate any further information you may find in your travels, thanks.
