There is definitely a difference of opinion as to what the name actually means. Some believe that the name is of Basque origin and means "three vineyards," or "behind the vineyard." Others indicate that the name came from the Latin word "Trevinium" which means "three borders" which is attributed to the three cultures of the area. While others believe the name is of Celtic origin and means "cottage people."
According to most, it is believed the "TREVIŅO" surname originated in a region known as Burgos, Espania. Burgos is located in the northern part of Spain on the border of France.
