Scott County, MS - Taylors

The following Taylor families lived in Scott County, Mississippi during the 1850 Federal Census. They lived close together as indicated by their family identification numbers (7-7, 10-10, 11-11) which is an indication that they were related to each other. I also surmise that "Margaret Taylor", age 65, who was born in Georgia and living with her son Alfred was also the mother of Powell and Henry. The migration pattern is established because the mother was born in Georgia, the oldest son was born in Alabama and the next two sons were born in Mississippi. Also note that two of the three wives were born in Alabama. It should also be noted that there may have been more Taylor kin living in Scott County (married sisters with different surnames), but we could not identify them. Related families usually lived close to each other, so I would presume that if their married sisters were in Scott County they would have family numbers like their brothers (i.e. 6, 8, 9, 12, etc.)
