Patterson Connection to Hawley

Family stories indicate that my grandfather -- Richard W. Hawley, born Sept 26, 1895 in Montpelier, VT was given to the Willis & Henrietta Hawley family when he was very young. We definitely know that he was not adopted from the wording of Henrietta Hawley's Will. I also understand when Richard was a young man, he paid an Investigator to find out who his mother and father were. He was told that his biological parents were H. Jarvis Patterson and Etta Mae Patterson although they were not married. On Richard's birth certificate it also indicated that Etta Mae Patterson was born in Berlin, VT. There was no place of birth for H. Jarvis Patterson. We were also told that Richard was part Abenake Indian, but don't know what side of the family it was from.

The following information was found on source document indicated.
